As a follow up to the good news recently announced for tax payers about the 90 day extension to pay taxes, the United States Treasury has now officially moved the date to file Federal income tax returns without penalty to July 15, 2020. The extension applies to all taxpayers and businesses.Since we cannot automatically presume that State tax authorities will do the same, please regularly check with state and local tax authority official websites between now and the April 15th traditional filing and payment due date in order to verify whether your State will do the same. This is yet another change to add to the growing list of things that happened differently in 2020 due to the coronavirus. Hopefully, this deadline change provides welcome relief for all!
