Surveys show that more than 16% of Americans have invested in, traded, or used cryptocurrency. Many forecasters expect this trend to continue.This CLE presentation will provide a basic explanation of how crypto assets function and explore the various cryptocurrencies, non-fungible tokens (“NFTS”), utility tokens, security tokens, and general blockchain technology. Attendees will learn the principles and concepts with a focus on their application under the law. The second portion of the presentation will examine specific discovery issues that attorneys should consider when faced with a case where crypto assets might be relevant. Participants will gain practical advice on legal issues that may arise related to discovery involving crypto assets. The course will also briefly address common tax and regulatory issues that legal practitioners face when advising their clients on crypto assets.This presentation will be held in-person in our firm’s Chicago office located at 321 N.
