CHICAGO, IL – September 22, 2026 – Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Adam Zebelian has been appointed to the Judicial Screening Committee established by Illinois Supreme Court Justice Sanjay T. Tailor for the Supreme Court's First District in Cook County.
The standing committee was established to evaluate applicants for judicial vacancies on the Illinois Supreme Court's First District. The committee comprises former judges and respected attorneys from across Cook County and assists in assessing candidates' qualifications for appointments to the Circuit and Appellate Courts.
Judicial Screening Committee Evaluates Applicants for Judicial Vacancies
Under the Illinois Constitution, vacancies on the Circuit and Appellate Courts are filled on an interim basis by appointment of the Illinois Supreme Court until the next election. The Judicial Screening Committee was established to help ensure that qualified candidates are recommended for those appointments.
Zebelian joins a distinguished group of former judges and accomplished attorneys selected to serve on the committee, reflecting his reputation within the Illinois legal community.
